FAQ · the product

Questions people ask before buying.

No answer here is softer than the same fact stated elsewhere on this site. Where something is a genuine risk, it is written down as one.

A small view of your current limits.

Menu bar widgets, a provider card on hover, and two Settings tabs.

What does UsagePool show?

Your menu bar widgets compare remaining usage with the time left in each limit window. Hover a widget to see the current limits, reset times and available account information for that provider.

The card follows the widget you hover. It has no provider tabs or dashboard below it.

Which tools does it cover?

Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, GitHub Copilot and experimental Google Antigravity support. A limit appears only when your account reports it.

Free and Single use one provider at a time. Full can use all supported providers together.

Do I need an API key or a UsagePool account?

No. UsagePool uses the supported tools you are already signed in to on your Mac. You do not create a separate UsagePool account. Paid licenses arrive by email and activate with a link or code.

Where do I set it up?

The General tab opens on first launch, after an update, and after a reinstall. It contains appearance, automatic updates, licensing, notifications and provider setup.

The only other tab is Menu Bar Widget Customizer. Paid users can change widget elements, colors and overflow highlighting there.

Does it record my usage?

UsagePool does not collect a usage-history archive or app telemetry. It retains preferences, its verified license, necessary connection configuration and latest quota projections, plus minimal notification bookkeeping.

Existing archives from an older version are left untouched. Provider requests, updates and license activation still require their respective network connections.

02 / 03 · Buying it

Choose the scope you need.

Free, Single and Full. Both paid licenses are permanent.

What is included free?

One provider, one menu bar widget and its provider card. The widget uses the default Bar style and Stoplight colors, with brand and time period labels, percentage off and overflow highlighting on.

Free has no widget customization or notifications. There is no trial timer, and you can switch your chosen provider any time.

What do the paid plans add?

Single adds unlimited widgets for one provider, full widget customization, and notifications. Full adds unlimited providers as well. Both are one-time purchases.

Current launch and regular prices →

Which notifications are available?

Paid plans include a high usage notice with a level slider, and a reset notice when the previous window used more than 10% of its limit. The reset threshold is fixed. Both notices can be turned off.

Can I upgrade from Single to Full?

Yes. Start the upgrade in General settings. It costs $2 if your Single license was bought in the first 1,000 paid licenses, or $3 if it was bought at the regular price. The same license is updated after checkout.

Can I use my license on another Mac?

Yes, on Macs you own. Use the activation link or manual code in your license email. Purchase recovery can resend the email if you need it.

Recover a purchase →

What if it does not work for me?

Every purchase has a 30-day refund window. Contact support from the purchase email address. A refund stops future activation and recovery for that purchase; offline verification means it does not remotely deactivate an already activated copy.

Refund policy →

Where do I enter my card?

On hosted Stripe Checkout. UsagePool does not receive your card data. Checkout is not open on this site yet.

03 / 03 · Provider limitations

What can change.

UsagePool reads services controlled by their providers.

What happens if a provider changes its interface?

The affected meter may become stale or unavailable until its adapter is updated. Copilot uses a private GitHub endpoint that may change without notice. Antigravity support is experimental.

Known issues →

What if the licensing service is unavailable?

An activated license is signed and verified offline on your Mac. A licensing-service outage cannot deactivate it. Activating on a new Mac and recovering a purchase need the service.

How do updates work?

General settings has an automatic update check toggle and a manual Check for Updates action. When an update is available, the updater guides you through installation.

Who builds UsagePool?

Scott Florida builds UsagePool as an independent macOS utility. It is not affiliated with the providers it supports.

Press kit →

When can I download it?

The public release is not available yet. UsagePool needs macOS 13 Ventura or later and at least one supported provider already signed in on your Mac.
